My Topic:
Today's English Education in Korea Hinders the Students' Capacity to speak and write in English.
What I hope to learn from this source:
I want to find some information that can expand on ideas and details for my writing. Especially, this time, as I noted before, I hope to learn somethings focused on Korean students and current education in Korea.
Notes:
1. The order of teaching English
Listening, speaking, reading, writing (-Stephen D krashen, <<The power of reading>> -Natural Approach )
Therefore, according to the authority, learning grammar and vocabulary are not top priority and additional factors that can be learned by natural for language development.
2. English education in Korea
- English is taught only to get good score for the college entrance test. Because of the Korean current educational system, most of Korean students are not able to use English practically, as opposed to they are focusing on grammar, vocabulary and the English for just the college entrance.
- With the English education in Korea in mind, it seems to hinder Korean students' creativity and capacity to speak and write extemporaneously. One of the main problems is because Korean students are undergoing a lack of materials to talk about. It is because Korean students are not used to thinking and creating some ideas for themselves but used to learning by rote. Also, decreasing the amount of book also influences on that problem.
- In foreign language education, Parents' behaviors have a great impact on their kids' interests and development on English. However, most of Korean parents are more likely to focus on output that made by their kids and they often express negative emotions against that. It is a really dangerous behavior that can completely deprive the kids of any interests and confidences about English.
3. Perfectionism
Many Korean students are perfectionist who have a obsession that though I write just one sentence and even a word , I should make it perfectly. This feeling makes the potential writer be afraid of writing, so the person can not display his or her writing abilities.
4. The amount of reading books
Students who are not interested in reading books are more likely to have difficulties on expressing their thoughts and using various words what they want to say. Also, they have less imagination and story subjects than students who enjoy reading books. -> The amount of reading books ∝ The ability of writing
Therefore, it is important for students to make habit to read books at least for 10 minutes.

Most of Korean students have a busy life that they have no enough time to think and envision about something. -> It can decrease students' ability to think.
Therefore, it is important for instructors to help children to express their thoughts and to see broader world.
