First draft: Refutation and Concession

 
 

1. What is my thesis?
English education system in Korea should be changed for students to bring up their ability for English composition.

2. What is the opposite position?
English education system in korea has no responsibility to teach English composition.

3. What arguments can I anticipate?
a)  The reason why Korean students are poor at English composition is because we are not native speaker.
b) There are not enough people who have ability to teach English composition as a regular course to all Korean students.
c) Current English education is the idealistic form

4. How will I counter those arguments?


a) 1. concede to some extents, i will refer to some important thing the opponents neglect.
b) If we can not change the current English education in  Korea with the reason,,,, as a reaction for those argument , i will ask them you guys would everyday avoid problems.

The rebuttal and concession

Some people who disagree with my argument can argue that the reason why students are struggling with English composition is just because they are not native speakers.It is right to some extent. It is a natural thing that we have trouble in writing and speaking extraneously in English because we are Korean, not English-speaking-pupils.  However, there are something that opponents neglect. They do not consider the time that Korean spend for English education. Although we are not native speakers, if we spend such a tremendous time and energy for it, we should be able to confidently make at least a sentence in English. This situation that most Korean people who have a degree averagely are good at Grammar and Reading Comprehension but they can not write just a sentence in English is very strange.
